Professional Accomplishments

During my Honours Bachelor of Early Childhood Leadership Degree, I completed a year-long quantitative research study that explores how prepared Ontario elementary teachers feel in supporting student mental health and well-being. Using a cross-sectional survey design, the research gathered data from Ontario certified Teachers working in K-6 classrooms to examine the perceived levels of knowledge, skills, and training related to student mental health and well-being.

Annual Learning Plan

Over the next year, my professional learning goal is to deepen my understanding and application of assessment for, as, and of learning in ways that meaningfully support student achievement and well-being. I aim to strengthen my ability to design clear learning goals and success criteria, gather ongoing formative evidence, and use assessment data to inform instructional decisions. By refining my use of descriptive feedback and next steps, I want to ensure assessment is not only evaluative, but also a tool that empowers students to understand their learning, reflect on their progress, and take ownership of their growth.

In addition, I am committed to expanding my knowledge of student well-being strategies and embedding social-emotional learning into daily classroom practice. This includes fostering emotionally safe learning environments, using strategies that support self-regulation, resilience, and positive relationships. I plan to explore professional development opportunities, collaborate with colleagues, and reflect on research-based practices that connect assessment, instruction, and well-being. Through this ongoing learning, my goal is to create a balanced classroom environment where academic growth and student well-being are equally prioritized and supported.

Goals for Future Growth

My goal for future practice is to intentionally strengthen my use of assessment for, as, and of learning by designing clear learning goals and success criteria, using ongoing formative assessment to guide instruction, and embedding reflective practices that help students understand their progress, build confidence, and support their overall well-being.
